Science Week: Trip to the L.Y.I.T.

This November 11th- 18th was National Science week and proved to be an exciting time in Croaghross N.S. Different activities organised in and out of school allowed our pupils develop an understanding of the importance and relevance of Science in our lives.

The Senior room and Mrs. Sweeney went to a Science exhibition in the L.Y.I.T.

The ‘Science Is Magic’ Show

On the 13th of November Mrs Sweeney’s Class took a trip to the Aura Leisure centre. Some people came from W5. W5 is a massive place in Belfast. W5 stands for the five W’s What, Who, Where, Why and When.

The people taught us about physics and chemistry. Chemistry is the study of acids and other stuff.

They chose a volunteer and asked him to sit on a stool. Then he asked him to spin the stool. The volunteer spread out his hands and legs and the stool slowed down. Then he pulled everything in and the stool sped up. It was class!

He then picked another three volunteers. He had these small tubes. He said that they were camera roll containers. Then he filled the containers with a fizzy tablet. Then the container exploded and the lid shot up and hit the roof. We did all the fun activities on the day. It was class crack.
