About Us

Croaghross N.S. is a small school in Portsalon. We offer a safe, positive learning environment that encourages the academic achievements of all students. Our staff have a wealth of experience in teaching children of all levels and abilities. We are an inclusive school with a very experienced Special Needs Team. We also have a very active and involved Parents' Association.

As well as teaching the core curriculum we also provide lessons in:

Art: Art lessons and visits from art teacher Jarla Duffy.

Drama: 8 week Speech and Drama course given by Margo Keegan. 6 week Drama Course run by the Balor Theatre.

Music: School Choir for occasions which occur throughout the school year.

Adding to the children's learning experiences we also have several fun activities throughout the year.

• Halloween Dress Up
• Christmas plays and concerts
• Pancake Tuesday - Children make homemade pancakes in the school with a local chef.
• Annual Ice-cream fun Day in aid of Down Syndrome Ireland.
• School Trips- Ards Forest Park, W5, Glenveagh.
• We are currently working towards attaining a Green Flag.
• We are publishing a school newspaper.
• Swimming Lessons.
